Atkinson Completes Jovita Creek Fish Passage Culvert Under SR 167

Auburn, WA- To eliminate 30 nights of lane closures and improve safety, Atkinson received approval from WSDOT to implement a 54-hour weekend closure of southbound SR 167 to install the Jovita Creek Fish Passage culvert. Crews developed an hour-by-hour schedule to ensure we had proper around-the-clock supervision and the right subcontractor and equipment resources on site. Crews excavated 7,500 CY and backfilled 10,000 CY of material, placed 200 LF culvert, and placed 920 CY of streambed gravel. Atkinson also took advantage of the closure to repave over one mile of the southbound mainline with 7,300 tons of hot mix asphalt. The work was well planned and executed and crews reopened SR 167 at 3:45 am on Monday morning—1 hour and 15 minutes early.
